FSC certifications
The Forest Stewardship Council is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote responsible management of the world's forests. Working to develop forest management and chain-of-custody standards for a global network of committed businesses, organizations and communities, it is nationally represented in more than 50 countries around the world. FSC certification establishes a credible link between responsible production and responsible usage of forest products.
If FSC certification is important to you and your project, Planet ink Fine Books can produce your project using a printer with FSC Chain-of-Custody certification.
"FSC paper" is also a term often heard which indicates the source of materials used in the paper's manufacturing. There are 3 catagories of FSC paper, each with its own specific logo.
FSC 100 percent
"FSC 100%" indicates the pulp used to make a paper comes solely from forests certified by the FSC.
FSC recycled
"FSC Recycled" indicates a paper was made from post-consumer reclaimed materials.
FSC mixed sources
"FSC Mixed Sources" indicates a paper made from material which came from FSC-certified forests, company-controlled sources and/or post-consumer reclaimed material.
Our FSC Chain-of-Custody certified printers use FSC papers.

Soy-based inks
As opposed to traditional petroleum-based ink, soy-based ink is more environmentally friendly, can provide more accurate colors, and makes it easier to recycle paper. Initially, it was slower to dry than petroleum-based inks but, with the upsurge in usage, these issues have been researched and resolved.
All of Planet ink Fine Books' overseas printers use soy-based inks.
Recycle
Recycled paper
Asian recycled paper is available in overseas printing. However, if you want a specific US recycled paper, it is usually shipped from the US, which many large publishers do. Some countries impose duties on these imported recycled papers, some do not.
We have the capacity to print on Asian recycled paper and US recycled papers without incurring import duties.
ISO certification
ISO 9000 is a family of standards for a quality management system maintained by the International Organization for Standardization. (ISO 9001:2008 is one of the standards in the ISO 9000 family.) A company with an ISO certification has developed and implemented this quality management system in order to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide a product that meets customer and regulatory requirements, and to address customer satisfaction through the effective application of their system. These companies exercise this responsibility through adequate training of its employees, adherence to proven procedures, and total commitment to meeting and exceeding customer requirements.
Planet ink Fine Books works mainly with ISO certified companies.
